Optimizing portfolio is a key activity for literally all companies to make sure the offering is ideal for the market. Selecting the right products however is not an easy task and beyond some market survey and analysis, data analytics can definitely help product management teams.
I’d like to introduce you two analysis I’ve just recently created than can be a good pillar for decision making around the portfolio. Basket Analysis helps to understand cross-selling products, means that it shows that for a selected products, what other products were sold in the same time. Repeat Purchases Analysis on the other hand analysis the return rate of the customers, means that after their selected item purchase what is the frequency they came back and purchased other items after a specific time frame.
I my first video I explain how Basket Analysis can be created with Power BI. Basket Analysis is a tool which helps to identify cross-selling between product. By selecting a specific product it shows what other product groups / products were purchased in the same baskets explaining them from different angles, like total amount, customer number, margin, etc.
